Queen Charlotte, (
n?Duchess Sophia Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, 19 May 1744-17 November 1818) was the queen consort of George III of the United Kingdom
(1738-1820). She is the grandmother of Queen Victoria
, and the great-great-great grandmother of the current Queen of the United Kingdom
, Queen Elizabeth II.
The city of Charlotte
is full of fun and history. Charlotte
is mostly known for its action packed sports scene. On October 26, 1993
NFL owners selected North Carolina
as the 29th NFL franchise and the first expansion team since 1976. This was the birth of the Carolina Panthers
. After only nine years, the panthers made their first trip to the Super Bowl.
The Panthers entertain the fans at their newly built Bank of America Stadium, which seats over 73,000 fans. Along with the Panthers, the Bank of America Stadium hosts the Meineke Car Care Bowl
which is an NCAA-sanctioned Division I-A post-season college football bowl game that has been played annually by the Big East or Navy versus acc teams at Bank of America Stadium. This event is televised on ESPN which adds to its popularity and attracts visitors to Charlotte

Charlotte Bobcats
The Bobcats are the second NBA team to have a home in Charlotte
. The Bobcats have a brand new state of the art arena right in uptown Charlotte
which just opened in 2005.
Charlotte Bobcats Arena was designed to reflect the community in which the fans live, work and play. Throughout the arena guests will find tributes to the community and the Carolinas
through artwork and unique displays. The arena also includes an interactive area designed for kids to have fun, a full concession area and also a team store where items can be purchased.
Charlotte Knights
The minor league baseball team that brings the action of baseball to the North and South Carolina
fans. The Charlotte Knights have been around since 1901. Formerly known as the Hornet?s until 1973, they are best known for their long deep history here in Charlotte
. Although they have a stadium in Fort Mill
South Carolina
, it is very convenient for fans to get to on game day. The stadium holds over 10,000 fans and has room for 4,000 buses and cars.
Other Charlotte
attractions include, the NASCAR Hall of fame
which will be opening in 2009. Race fans from all over the world will come here to see the history of racing. Along with the hall of fame; race fans come here yearly to visit the Lowes Motor Speedway
. This NASCAR race track hosts races every year that attracts fans from all over the country to come enjoy the action of car racing.

comes here on a yearly basis with the worlds best golfers like Tiger Woods
and Vijay Singh
to mention a few. The Quail Hollow Country Club, where the PGA Tour is held is just one of many wonderful golf courses here in Charlotte
. With the wonderful weather; golfers can enjoy the greens here late in the year.
